Good to Know

The Hooker Valley Track is about 10 km return on a gravel path with some steps. Most people finish the full track in 2 to 3 hours. You can turn back at any point.
Omarama is the only place to buy food. Bring lunch or buy it there.
Mountain weather changes quickly in every season, and cloud can hide Aoraki/Mount Cook. Bring warm and waterproof layers.
Bring sunscreen and sunglasses. The sun is strong at altitude.
In winter, parts of the track can be icy. Shoes with good grip are essential.
The departure time from Mt Cook is fixed. Please return to the meeting point on time.
